Understanding St Barth Microclimates
Saint-Barthelemy presents a great diversity of microclimates despite its small size. The hilly topography, coastal orientation and exposure to trade winds create significant differences between neighborhoods.
The eastern neighborhoods (Lorient, Toiny) receive more rain and are more humid, while the southern and western areas (Gouverneur, Saline, Colombier) are drier and sunnier. The elevation at Vitet brings cooler temperatures and cloudiness, while Gustavia benefits from natural protection.
